In the West, chai tends to pop up in all sorts of unlikely places (looking at you, chai lattes), but in India, chai is more than just the word for ‘tea’, it’s a way of life. 

We’re not overstating the point when we say that every facet of Indian society, from beautiful Bollywood starlets to the average Joe in the streets, is completely steeped in the milky sweet spice blend known as ‘chai’. For centuries, morning, noon and night, on trains, in cafes and homes, the country has been constantly enjoying this wonderfully enlivening beverage. For our blend, we’ve opted for a classically balanced combination of chai tea spices —ginger, cardamom, black pepper, cloves and cinnamon— that give rise to that indomitable chai flavor.

  • Tea is a delicious way to help you achieve the recommended daily fluid intake of 2 to 2.5 liters a day. The first ingredient in tea is water, which is needed by your body to run at its best. Tea is 99.5% water making it just as hydrating and refreshing as water.  Don’t be daunted by the chore of hydrating. Sit back, sip, enjoy! 
  • A daily consumption of at least 400mg flavonoids may help maintain a healthy heart as part of a diet consistent with dietary guidelines. Flavonoid content varies amongst tea types, but just one cup can contain anywhere from 100 to 150 mg compared to 37 mg of flavonoids in 1 cup of fresh orange juice!
  • Tea has less caffeine than coffee*. For those looking for less caffeine, black tea has about half the caffeine as coffee and keeps you hydrated!
  • Unsweetened tea contains zero calories: Choosing beverages with no added sugars in place of sugar-sweetened beverages can contribute to a healthy diet consistent with dietary guidelines.

GETTING THE BEST FROM YOUR BREW

Packed with rich, fragrant spices and lovely with a splash of milk, we think our chai is an incredible way to awaken your senses and get the day started right. 

To experience its full spicy flavor, our chai tea benefits from a steep time of around 2 to 3 minutes; this will let those vibrant spices really make themselves known. Your brew should have an attractive, clear amber color and, due to the cornucopia of fragrant spices all jostling for attention, will naturally taste bold and intense. Traditionally, chai is served up sweet and milky to take the edge off those heavy-duty spices.
