HERE ARE 10 FEEL-GOOD WELLNESS HABITS TO TRY
On almost a daily basis, we’re bombarded with fitness routines, “healthy recipes”, DIY beauty remedies, all to encourage us to care more for ourselves. While these might all bring you a little closer to self-care, more often than not, you’ll end up feeling overwhelmed and not sticking to any of these at all.
Unfortunately, what social media fails to tell us is that wellness and self-care come from within. Wellness isn’t just about eating clean or practicing yoga in an Instagram-worthy fashion. Self-care is not a $600 gold-infused face cream. If you even lookup the wellness hashtag on Instagram, you’ll find over 35 million images of exercise shots, inspirational quotes, and plenty of avocado salads. What one must know is that wellness is an umbrella term, encompassing everything from mindfulness to personal development to self-healing, and being physically, mentally, and spiritually well. Wellness goes beyond the one-hour meditation practice you do every morning, It goes beyond the “mean green” smoothie you gulp every day for breakfast. To be truly “well”, one must set an intention for their wellness journey and commit to it. Here are 10 feel-good wellness habits to try:
Exercise because you want to be flexible and healthy and not because you want to lose weight.
Make your own food because you want to cherish your body and be in control of what you allow in.
Do more of what you love, feed your soul the happiness it searches for in other people and enjoy your own company.
Educate yourself and feed your mind with topics that keep you engaged and those that you want to learn more about.
Be curious, don’t be afraid to try new things or meet new people.
Be kind to yourself and be kind to others as well.
Take a break on the days you feel like you don’t want to get out of bed. Take time to breathe. Imagine letting go of daily stressors with every exhale.
Make time for you. Whether it’s a morning routine or a night one, setting time aside just for you is essential, especially if you’re busy.
Count your blessings. Focus on the good, even when the bad keeps coming your way.
Be mindful of how you feel. Focus on the now, acknowledge what’s happening with your feelings at this exact moment, in a nonjudgmental way.
