Most Lipton teas are available at your local grocers or e-retailers. Some blends however were specially designed for restaurants.

No, green tea is not caffeine-free.  A brewed cup of Green tea has slightly less caffeine than a brewed cup of black tea (45 milligrams vs. 55 milligrams).  However, caffeine content of either black or green tea depends on the preparation method, brewing time, the amount of tea leaves used, and the size of the tea bags.

We don’t recommend re-using your tea bags.  Our tea bags are meant for a single use and will yield the proper flavor and color when following the directions on the box.

Most of our teas are indeed Kosher. The following teas are certified OU Kosher: Lipton Black Tea (loose and tea bags), Decaf Black Tea, English Breakfast, Earl Grey, all Lipton Green Teas (including Decaf and flavored), all Lipton Powdered Tea Mixes and all Lipton Flavored Black and Herbal Teas.

Lipton teas are easy to brew and usually take less than 5 minutes to prepare. Instructions can be found on product pages and additional recipes can be found on our recipes page here.

Yes, but processing tea into powder decreases its antioxidant contents.

The term Orange Pekoe and Pekoe cut tea refer to the grade and size of the tea leaf not to the flavor, color or quality. Lipton uses the finest quality orange pekoe and pekoe cut black teas. Each tea leaf is picked at the peak of flavor and carefully blended by Lipton tea experts. Some are selected for their rich flavor, some for their bright, sparkling color, and others to provide full body and consistency.

Antioxidants are a classification of several organic substances, including vitamins C and E, vitamin A (which is converted from beta-carotene), selenium (a mineral), and a group known as the carotenoids. Carotenoids, of which beta- carotene is the most popular, are a pigment that adds color to many fruits and vegetables.  Antioxidants act as cell protectors. Oxygen, an essential element for life, can create damaging by-products during normal cellular metabolism. Antioxidants counteract these cellular by-products, called free radicals, and bind with them before they can cause damage.

Antioxidants work by binding to the free radicals; transforming them into non-damaging compounds; or repairing cellular damage.  Good sources of antioxidants are found in the most deeply or brightly colored fruits and vegetables as well as tea, both green and black.

We have committed that by 2020 all our food raw materials will be produced using sustainable crop practices, minimizing the use of pesticides through integrated pest management techniques, and with due care for the environment and the livelihood of farmers. This includes both a pesticide residue standard and the ability to trace raw materials across our entire supply chain.Under our Sustainable Agriculture Code, we work with suppliers and farmers to minimize the use of pesticides.

In addition, we collaborate with a range of independent certification schemes for sustainable agricultural practices such as the Rainforest Alliance, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, Roundtable for Sustainable Soy, Fair Trade and Bonsucro.

Minimizing use of pesticides is always a requirement. We monitor the presence of pesticide residues in the raw materials that we purchase and we take action with our suppliers to ensure that the ingredients continue to meet the regulations in force. We are constantly reviewing our pesticide approach and practices in light of new scientific evidence and societal concerns here.

Tea itself does not exist as a genetically modified crop, therefore most of our bagged tea is not GMO.  A full list of current offerings that are non-GMO, including Lipton products can be found here.  Some ready to drink teas and powder tea mixes may include sweetener that is made from GMO crops, such as sugar made from sugar beets.

Tea helps maintain health and hydration. To help maintain hydration and health nutrition experts from the Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for women is approximately 9 cups (2.2 L) of fluids every day and for men is approximately 13 cups (3.0 L) of fluids every day.1,2 Since tea without added sugar or milk is 99.5 percent water, it can count towards your fluid intake for the day - plus it tastes great!

It’s a common perception that tea, or other drinks containing caffeine, have a diuretic effect, which means causes higher frequency of urination and will lower your body’s hydration level.  However, research shows that the levels of caffeine in regularly consumed amounts of tea do not lead to dehydration, and in fact, the fluid in tea contributes to hydration.

Lipton black tea bags have a new look with 40% less packaging than previously.  We are dedicated to our Sustainable Living Plan to reduce our environmental footprint and use biodegradable materials.  The packaging is also meant to be sturdier and lock in freshness with Stay Fresh tea trays.

According to the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development, sustainable development “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. Lipton® is proud that 100% of our leaf tea sold in the U.S. is Rainforest Alliance Certified™, whether it is produced at our own tea estates in Kericho Kenya or at our partner tea estates and smallholder farmers around the world. Through our commitment to Rainforest Alliance, we ensure sustainability from crop to cup.

Right now we’re not pursuing any individual or corporate sponsorship requests, but thanks for offering!

Herbal teas generally do not have caffeine because they are not made from traditional tea leaves.  They typically include leaves, flowers, bark, seeds, stems or roots from a wide variety of plants. Lipton herbal teas are special blends of natural grain, fruit flavors and sweet spices, leaves, flowers and roots.

According to internal Lipton research, studies have shown peak blood levels of antioxidants are reached after drinking 4-5 cups of brewed tea per day.
